Default Battery Cable size

The word gauge is what I'm writing this about. It may be the most commonly misspelled word on this site and others. I have spelled it guage many times myself. I finally looked it up and Webster says the word guage does not exist. (I looked up guage on Ebay the other day and got 600 hits of the misspelled version.) Anyway, not picking on anyone here. No big deal. Just something I was thinking about. I have seen it spelled wrong on professional signs and businesses. Just thought I'd mention it. It's gauge not guage.

I think one of the problems is the spell check does not recognize it any way you try it It is really hard to gage the extent of this problem

Modern Usages:

In measurement:

Gage is a widely used alternative spelling of the word gauge.[1] This spelling is generally preferred in the mechanical engineering field in reference to various instruments for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. i.e. thread gage, depth gage...[2]

In all fairness, not usually used for wire examples! But like you said, I quess it depends on how you GAGE the issue and as long as no one gets all WOUND up about it.
