Default 2006 Precedent Battery Maintenance

Purchased a 2006 Precedent with 08 batteries recently. I am supposed to open up the batteries and then fill them with distilled water. Is that right? If so, how often do I do this?

Also, how high do I fill with water? I don't see a line or anything in there and I'm not sure what to do.

Please let me know. Thanks.

The battery water level should be maintained about a good 1/4 inch above the lead plates. Too much water and the electrolyte in the water is diluted and spills out or boils over upon charging. Of course the main thing is to never let the plates become exposed to air as permanent damage can result from even partially dry plates... Weather has alot to do with it a dry climate and high temps will necessitate more frequent fill ups I suggest checking on the 1st of the month and take it from there depending upon your carts needs.

So if I don't see anything sticking out of the water, am I OK then? I don't know what the lead plates should look like.

You're OK right now. The lead plates look like the fins of a car radiator.

First read this

The get one of these, they fill to the correct level and cost less than $10.

If you have a 2006 with "8 Batteries", please take picture of it's battery well and post !
the norm is either 4 x 12 Volt or 6 x 8 Volt .

Yes, I meant 2008 batteries. I took a photo but can't figure out how to attach because it's asking for a URL. And I can't paste a photo into this text box. There are 6 white plastic covers which I guess means I have 6 batteries.

I called local CarQuest store and they told me they have the Battery Water Fill Bottle. I know it says this bottle works perfect but how can I be sure I won't overfill? I have never done this before and don't want to make a mistake here. Any tips on how to do this would help. Thanks.

for attachments do a Go Advance down below first then chose the paperclip at the top of
the text screen tell it where the file is (brouse) then choose upload.

If the water over fills just stick your finger in the hole and force water out, then spray batteries with hose an wash your finger.

I use a rubber squeeze bulb to fill cells so I can see the water level, if you get a little too much it iis easy to suck some out with the bulb
