Default IQ Cart Lurches

Good Friday evening, all! My cart seems to speed up real quick and then lug with the GO pedal in the same position after riding for just a little while. All connections are tight. Pretrip voltage was 51.2v and after about an hour and a half ride (i don't ride very fast) the voltage was 51.0. I ride slow and the motor was kinda hot(probably 150-165 degrees) when i felt of it. Is the throttle position causing this, can i program my controller differently and keep the torque and not make it do this or what? I sure need some help because it is driving me crazy!!! I sure appreciate any help or ideas.

Thanks,
BAF

Probably the speed sensor kicking in. The IQ carts have a "governor" built in to the system which can be stopped when you switch out some controllers and some aftermarket motors.

I think a dealer can turn it off with their handy little programmer or if you change out the controller to an alltrax you can disable it and have better performance. There are also some motors available that will disable the speed sensor.

Do you have the cable and a laptop to program it with?

Yes. I have dropped the max amp output to 75% and it seems to have helped. It was only doing it when it after a pretty long ride at about half throttle. Is there somehthing else i can do?

I am not 100%, but I think you need to check the "BRAKE CURRENT" and adjust it down and check the "TOP SPEED" you may be topping out and the controller is slowing you down.

I have brake current at 10% and top speed at 50%(as low as it will go). It is only used offroad so i don't need it to go fast. Should brake current be lower than that?

I would adjust the top speed to a higher percentage. I know you say you don't need it to go fast, but it sounds like you are hitting the top speed and the "top speed governor" is kicking in and slowing the cart. If you have a GPS get some max speed readings on where the cut out is and the up the speed % and see if it makes a difference.
