Default f&s switch

I have a 2000 tourall 48volt that has been giving me trouble starting out in forward. Tried cleaning the contacts as best I could but still had trouble. If I pull out on the f/r lever it will engage. Today I noticed heat around the f/r switch after driving the cart a few minutes. I then drove my 99 ds around the block and the switch and surrounding area on it was cool. Any thoughts as to why the switch is heating up? It doesn't get to hot to touch but it probably shouldn't be hot at all, right? Bad contacts? Switch going bad?

bad contact/connections create heat. Check the cable connections where they attatch to the moving part of the switch, common failure point since the cables always move and flex.. If that all looks good, time for a new switch, dont try to fix it or clean it as it will fail again at a real inconvenient time. Do it right and replace it, they even make a heavy duty replacement version thats an exact replacement

Check sponsors for the F/R switch assembly. Heavy duty shown as $100. No big deal to install. Disconnect battery cables from batteries prior to installation.

Did it solve the problem? And are you now running with a cool switch?

Yes to both questions and appreciate the advise. Ran it a couple of miles with no heat from switch. Will start checking those connections during weekly battery inspection.
