Default Yamaha 48v multi-stage charger on CC?

I have a 99 Electric CC. Obviously I am a newbie. Our charger went bad, I verified by borrowing a friend's charger, and all went perfect. I forgot to bring the old charger home to have it repaired. I have a 48v Yamaha multi-stage charger with the wrong end on it. Someone said I could take my cable from the old charger and put it on the yamaha charger and no problems. Another friend said the yamaha will not shut off, that it will burn up the batteries. Question: Is this true? If so, is it okay to use a separate timer, and set it to 10 hours or so, a timer like used for holiday lights, etc. Any help truly appreciated. Yes, I searched for 3 hours to see if I could find someone else asking if you can use a different charger. Trojan batteries is all i recall, and this info:

Cart is A9942-816479 club car
Charger is model 17930 Power Drive
120v 60 Hz 10 amps Output 48v dc
17 amps Lester electrical, Serial 07-01

Hope someone can help. I truly appreciate it. I will start reading to learn these golf carts! I am intrigued by all of the things that can be done to them.

Sorry, you are in the wrong thread. We concentrate on electric Club Cars and do not know much about Yamahas.

Call a dealer and see if they have repair shop for chargers..

Or find a Golf Course that may have a repair shop on premise and Information where a charger could be repaired..

Could be a circuit board in the charger or diode that may be replaced.

Chargers can be repaired..

Right, I have a Club Car.
I apologize, I should have said Club Car in the subject instead of CC.

Just wanted to know if 48v 17A is "universal".
My previous charger is bad, and was curious if another charger would work, or if it must have a specific charger, exactly like the one I had as posted previously.

I had seen that there are OBC's, so that may prevent other brands from
working with my cart. Is Lester the only charger that I can use?

If wrong place to post, do I post this question in a Yamaha Cart group even though I have a Club Car? I apologize for the ignorance.

If you have an OBC you can bypass it and use whatever automatic charger you want. If you don't have an OBC you can still use any automatic charger you want. Assuming your voltage, amps and charge plugs are right.

Thanks RJC, I do intend to have my charger repaired. I just happened to have a 48V Yamaha charger (not being used), and my friend is going back to our condo today. I was hoping he could use this Yamaha just to get by for 4 days, then he will bring back the bad charger for repair. We live 3 1/2 hours from the condo, and I forgot to bring it back with me when I came home this past week. Just looking for a quick fix if possible. Thanks again.

Is bypassing the OBC simple? I will search the threads. Will my model number listed in my first post tell me if I have an OBC? I dont know which cars have them yet, and which ones don't. Thanks Roady.

You shouldn't apologize for anything.
You have a Club Car cart, most know it is a "CC", you are asking about a Yamaha charger.
If you posted in the Yamaha section someone that didn't take the time to read and comprehend what you wrote, "correctly" I might add, would have fussed as well.
You could have posted in both sections and been good to go. Don't sweat it.
So if you replace the Yamaha charger plug with the "CC" plug you should be OK, Check the stickies or search for the bypass procedure.
Good luck and have fun. Mitch

My bad!

I apologize for thinking he was asking about a Yahama cart instead of just a charger. I maybe had too much beer in hot sun. Creeping back into hole now.
