Aquired a an old cart
I recently aquired a a beat up old club car. I want to work on this with my son as a project. I know almost nothing about them. The serial number plate from what I can gather below on the right under the dash is missing. Is there a way to tell the model so I can start aquiring parts? I know it will require a 6-6 volt batteries. To get it going is worth just buying reconditioned batteries? All wiring seems to be intact. Is there a way to test the motor before spending money on this. I really have no clue where to start. Any help is appreciated!

Re: Aquired a an old cart
We need to identify the cart can you post pics of it?
1. OK, is it fiberglass or plastic 2. Does it have resistor coils or 5 solenoids behind the batteries? 3. The motors almost NEVER go bad |

Welcome to the nut house. There are Club Car experts here and there are "Sparkie" experts here. One of them should be able to asnwer your questions. Have a ball building it and be sure to post pics of it from start to finish.

Re: Aquired a an old cart
Scotty B, Thanks. From what I can tell it is fiberglass. It appears to have 5 solenoids in connection by 4 small bracket that are attached to 3 coils. Does this make sense.
I will try and post some pictures. Can you test the motor before buying the batteries? Where can I find a diagram of how to series the batteries. |

Re: Aquired a an old cart
It looks good
Those motors RARELY go bad ... probably no need to test it. Here is a wiring diagram for the cart with the battery cableing as well. It is marked '81-85 ( prolly should read 79-87) Find it here in the stickies http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-diagrams.html Put the cart on jack stands to test and check to see if you hear ALL 5 solenoids click when you press the gas...... |

Re: Aquired a an old cart
I printed the diagram. Any idea where I can find the information that coordinates with the numbers that are called out on the diagram? I want to make sure I am hooking everything up right. The stud coming out of my motor have a different pattern to the one in the diagram. Thanks

Re: Aquired a an old cart
the motor studs should be clearly marked A1, A2 and S or F 1&2. There is no ledger to the diagram; what # are you concerned about?
