With 40+ years as an insurance Broker I suggest you read the sections of the policy pertaining to damage to the cart (Coverage C) as well as the Liability Section 11. You MAY be ok for Liability but I question any coverage for damage to the cart.

Like dcanow posted check your policy real careful, some policies state that must have golf clubs on the cart or use it at golf course to make a claim

It is not necessarily wise to take the first policy offered. My agent offered a price of $ 86.00 per year as an add on to my HO policy. That would be liability coverage only (damage to others) with no coverage on my machine. He said that is what most people do. I pushed several times for a better deal. They finally came up with an offer through another company with a $75.00 minimum premium. For this money, I get liability of the same limits, plus comp (fire and theft), plus colision with a low $100.00 deductible through a well known company. I bought that one. It seems like a lot more bang for the bucks.

Golf cars are considered "recreational motorized vehicles ", and farm Bureau Ins. Co. in Georgia says that they will no longer covers them on home owner's policy. Better check with your insurance company about the percieved coverage under the home owners policy. When one company drops something, it is likely that they all will shortly follow suit. Mine are insured with State Farm liability insurance costs $11.00 each per year for them .

The company I insured with is Progressive. Due to a $75.00 minimum no matter what , my agency just kept building the coverage better until the $75.00 was utilized. To hopefully cover all bases, my Mrs. is also listed on the police as an operator. For about $9.00 more (annual), I could have added $3000.00 coverage for the trailer. My trailer is not worth big bucks, so I chose not to add that. At this point, I am pleased with the outcome. Now.....to never have a claim. Insurance is always best if you are not required to proof test it.

We have full coverage policy on the our cart through State Farm. Just like a car, if you wreck it, they repair it etc and protects us if we hit something or someone, good to have with the kids driving. The policy is like $38 a year.
