Default Cart does not move

I just installed new batteries in my 1985 Club Car, and now all it does is make clicking sounds when I try to go forward or backward.

Any ideas?? Thank you very much in advance for any help!!!

Are cables on correctly with all connections tight? Look for a bad cable end also. Batteries fully charged? They seldom come that way so hit them with the charger if you haven't done so already. If it ran before the new batteries and now with no F/R it's got to be the hookup. Cycle the R/F four or five times. Check if switch wires are hooked up right. If cables are correct check voltage across the battery pac. Tap the solenoid pretty good. If still no go come back with a report and one of the high techs will have an answer. I just ran through my list!!

Nine times out of ten, When a cart wont run after a battery install it is a wire that was not installed or installed incorrectly. So you need to grab a wiring diagram from the top of this section and start tracing out he secondary ignition circuit.... For safety put the rear end up on jack stands. Where/what are the clicks you hear coming from? Small silver box at the end of the gas peddle linkage or the bank of solenoids behind the batteries?

Got the wiring diagram for the year of cart I have and will be carefully going through all my connections again. The clicking seems to be coming from the bank of solenoids behind the batteries.

That's good. Each one of the solenoids opens a different speed or gear, if you will. The one closest to the driver side is the master. It clicks first and feeds power to all the gear or speed ones. If it does not click the rest have no power to feed whether they click or not....
NOW! CAREFUL Put the cart on blocks or jacks to test and repair this problem. As the cart can take off if you accidentally fix it.

Check the solenoids ALL click one at a time as you press the gas. My guess right now is that the master is not.

These solenoids are about 25 yrs old. It is best to replace them all at once if you can.. often you replace one then in a few months another and so on.
