Default Advice on seats for Caroche?

I'm not sure if the seat backs and bottom available for 1976-2000 Club Cars will fit my 1971. Anybody out there have a clue? The seats that are on it are old boat seats or something that were on it when I got it.

No, I think the bottom may be original but the seat back is just an old boat seat back that came with the cart. I have gone ahead and talked to an upholstery person to re-cover the bottom and make two individual seat backs. One guy wanted $300 to do it. But I bought $20 dollars worth of good white vinyl and another $15 worth of high density foam. I'll cut a couple of boards out of 5/8" plywood and she'll make them for me for about $35 or $40. I still might throw in a little maroon trim or something but just plain white will still pop, I think.

buckfifty98,

Your paint job is nice

Can you explain what you did to achieve this on an old cart? I want to do a red/metalflake job on my cart.

Thanks!

I took it to a local body shop. They fixed the gouges in the fiberglass and a few spider web cracks. Then he painted it metallic, Medium Garnet, a General Motors paint he already had from a previous customer. All of that cost me $350. Worth every penny. Originally it was supposed to be Victory Red (very bright) but later I asked to make it metalflake and he switched the paint and color. Picking something he already had in inventory helped a lot. Also, I took the body and emblems completely off, so there was no taping to be done around anything.

I painted the dash, steering wheel column, and wheels with rattle can primer and paint from Wal-Mart. The steering wheel was $30.00 at O'Reilly Automotive. I replaced every nut, bolt, and screw with nice shiny new ones. I can't wait to get the seats fixed.

Don't worry, Scotty, I'm really proud of the way it's turning out. I've had a lot of fun doing it and can't wait to post a few finished photos.

The original seat back for the Caroche is a 2 piece back, just like newer DS models. I have a 1980 Caroche and a 1991 DS and they both have the same seat. You can get new seat back and bottom w/new plywood on Ebay for around $100. Check out this link to Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/3-pc-CLUB-CAR-GO...d=p3286.c0.m14
You will also have to get the seat back Cap like this one on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Club-Car-Golf-Ca...d=p3286.c0.m14 Hope this helps

Thanks! I looked at those on Ebay before and was very tempted by the $100 seats. The backrest caps were an issue for me though, the "T" shaped impression with holes on the outer part of the "T" don't look like they would fit the straight, rectangular piece on my cart. The holes would have to be drilled in the upright part of the "T" (see the picture above) instead of the cross part. I thought about getting them anyway and drilling my own holes but, in the end, I wanted it to look like the yellow Caroche that is in the gallery of this site. I think that is the way mine looked originally. I'll see how the custom ones turn out, I won't have too much money in them and if they suck, I'll get the ones on Ebay. Thanks for the advice.

Do you have a picture of the back side of your 1980 backrest?
