Information on a 1984 Club Car

Hello.

Im going to be picking up my first golf cart tommorrow, it is a 1984 club car, 36v.

Im curious as to if anyone knows what type of suspension these have on them in the front and rear. Im not sure if there are any other years that are similar or not, i havent seen one this old before, and was just curious.

Its nothing special, but im a suspension fabricator / machinist by trade, and ive also spent a few years doing paint and bodywork, so im hoping i can turn this around into something nice looking.

any words of advice on these older club cars?

1984 may have the Fuji diff; if it does it can't take any hop-ups. If you have a Terrell (older than 1982) or Kawasaki (newer 1986) then you are good to go.

The front suspension has an upper control arm, lower lateral leaf spring with dual hydraulic shocks. The rear has a semi-independent leaf spring/dual hydraulic shocks.

ok, now if this has the fuji rear diff, It literally cannot take ANY hopups to make it faster?

because that was one of my first things i wanted to do was give it just alittle more get up and go power, nothing crazy, just faster than it would be stock....

is there any fixes for this fuji rear end?

or anything i can do to get alittle extra power without changing the rear end?

I have always seen and been told that the Fujis have trouble handling the stock 2hp. They are a VERY weak unit and I do believe ANY means ANY! You can find a donor cart with a Terrell (they have 8:1 gears from the factory) or Kawasaki.

Since the Fujis were only out for a short while, I don't think you have to worry about your cart having one. However, if you do, we will help take care of things for you.

ooo, so not all club cars within a certain year had the fuji rear end?

well, that makes me feel alittle better i suppose lol

How will i beable to tell if it is the fuji rear end? is it stamped or sticker on it?

well, i got the cart today, not sure how i can tell if its the fuji rear end or not, but i dont think it is, because it looks pretty strong, alot like that one pictured above.

soooo, assuming that it is not the fuji rear end...

what are some simple hop ups i can do to make it slightly faster.....nothing crazy, just alittle more zip.

Keep in mind, you're looking at the front side of that differential. The side that faces the batteries.

Here is what a Kawasaki looks like:

The only difference is that you have a motor mounted to your differential, whereas I have a Forward-Neutral-Reverse unit.

yea, i think its one of those terrell units......it looks alot like that one pictured.
