Default 96 CC 48v real noob, been lurcking and searching, need help still..

hey guys, im new to this golf cart thing but not new to cars, fabricating , or welding. capable of crazy things on cars but not carts, yet. okay so what is this v glide thing i read? my cart says its equipped with a speed controller for going down hills, that's lame i wanna fly down hills. my motor has that little connector behind it but its connected to something i disconnected that and the cart seems to still run normal, i dono about top speed wise or anything but going back and forth in my garage it feels same. i was thinking about doing a 12v boost, if all else fails ill convert the thing into gas, yea i read enough about just buying a gasser to start with but with my dedication to fabrication and skills it looks easy as pie to me. but iv done some ridiculous things in the past. please clarify my unknown knowledge.
here is me being stupid, LOLOLOLL

Welcome NOOBE FIRST WE NEED THE NIMBERS OFF the plate under the passenger glove box so that we can be talking about your cart. In 1995-1996 period Club Car made many different types of electrical controls and voltages so to answer your questions we need the complete serial number and pack voltage 36-48 etc, and whether you have a lever beside your right leg or a rocker type switch beside your leg to control forward and reverse. Also whether your cart has V glide ( explained below ) or a black box under drivers side floor, or a black box under passenger floor?
Now to answer your question about V glide-- Its a black pie shaped unit mounted on top of frame under the drivers seat between the batterys that is connected to SPEED pedal by rod that controls speed, and is hooked to a solid state controller or a series of resitors in some carts.
If by flying down a hill and what you said about disconnecting some thing on motor WARNING THAT MAY BE THE MOTOR BRAKE AND RPM CONTROL and without it connected you will blow the armature up in motor and may give you a shot of hot metal where you meet the seat?? Electric motor are not like auto motors as they are not made for high RPM's, they have a low RPM rate and going down hills is an easy way to destroy a motor.
Will wait for you info so to be on same page so to speak on your cart?

You have a regen cart then with the rocker switch beside your leg and it has a black box under drivers side floor. The regen is causing your cart to slow down when you let up on pedal as its supposed to do. What its also doing is putting a charge back into your cart that causes it to slow down and save on brake wear.Your cart has an additional solenoid behind battery pack with a resistor mounted on it. The reason for the speed control on motor is to protect it from too high RPM's, and some cart owners take them loose but in most cases to protect from armature damage they add a RPM meter similiar to what is used on an auto.
AS I said before be very careful about not doing motor damage as I have seen pictures of what damage and shrapnel flying everywhere can do to your cart and those sitting in the seat?
Good luck and I hope you enjoy your cart.

In the picture marked "Here is the middle" just inside frame next to where the "GAS" pedal comes through floor is the black box ( pedal speed control ) that is used in your cart instead of the V glide you had heard about.
From what you have said I think you need to get a later model gas cart that you can hop up to give you the speeds that you seem to want? Good luck in your quest for speed but remember that any golf cart is made to drive on a grass course with 2 people and 2 golf bags at speeds of 12-15 MPH. and anything above that you are endangering yourself and anyone around you as the steering abd brakes are not made for any speeds higher than that. Many add lifts and larger diameter tires as well and this causes top heavy problems as the center of gravity is now ABOVE the top of the tires. Doing that does make them look SHARP and DIFFERENT.
Good luck in your quest for speed.

First things first ,
Define Fast ! how much speed do you need to declare Victory.
Define Budget ! how much $$ are you willing to spend !
GPS the cart to determine your starting point !

Now we have something to work with !
