Post Re: Needing a voltage reducer...

Where can I find 48 volt bulbs? Would I just have to wire the headlights to all six batteries? Here is the link to the lights that I bought: http://www.buggiesunlimited.com/prod...T%20CC5%205001 Thank you guys for all your help!!!

Two eights would give you 16V. You could probably run those light off 2 battery's and get away with it
The best alternatives are a seperate battery for the acc.s and charge it with a seperate 12V source.
Voltage reducers are good. Get the 48 to 12, it will bring the whole pack down at the same rate,

I will probably want to get the 48v to 12v reducer so I don't run down two batteries quicker than the rest of them, right?

I run my lights off of 1 of the 8 volt batteries.
They are a little dimmer, but function fine with the 12 volt bulbs.
I use a battery from the middle of the pack, and do not get any surge or dimming while driving.

Post Re: Needing a voltage reducer...

Does anyone know where I can find a 48 volt to 12 volt reducer for a reasonable price? All the ones that I have seen only hook up to two batteries and reduce 16v to 12v. I don't want one like that because it will run those two batteries down quicker than the rest of the battery pack. Thanks.

They're about $150, what would you call a reasonable price?
I thought you were only running a couple of lights, 48v lights are about $2 apiece, here's the link:

I will just get two of the 48 volt bulbs. Thank you for giving me that link. If I have two 48v bulbs (one in each headlight) Will they both run from the entire 48v battery pack? Thanks.

Thanks to kneddor for that suggestion, I didn't know 48v bulbs existed until he suggested it. That will solve my problem too next year when I do the 48v conversion.
