Default Analog Battery Indicator

I recently purchase a 48v analog battery charge indicator from buggies unlimited. It seems to be working fine negative run to the battery pack positive run to key switch. Could someone who was the guage explain if this is working properly. Turn the key on it shows near the full mark. When the pedal is pressed it moves down some but eventually returns. When will I know when it is time to charge when the needle goes into the red while the cart is sitting still or under load. Thanks again for any replies.

The correct way is when the cart is idle. You need to "calibrate" the analog meter with a digital multimeter so you can decide where on the analog meter a certain voltage threshold resides.

Thank you makes sense enough. I have an 05 Precedent 48v and did see the state of charge graph in the sticky what is the percentage of discharge I should stay above on the battery pack?

Thanks.

NEVER let them go below 50% charge.
