Convert 1983 CC to 48 Volt
My 13 year old son and I want to convert our old cart to a hunting cart. I have a 1983 36 volt CC with the Hitachi MT-360-07 2 HP 2800 RPM 16 Spline Motor. I want to convert the cart from 36 volt to 48 volt to get more speed and power.
I know it will require swapping the 6-6 volt batteries to 6-8 volt. What else needs to be done?
Can someone tell me how to do this the best way. Can you perhaps also provide a wiring diagram for any changes that need to be made?

Re: Convert 1983 CC to 48 Volt
Do you have resistor coils behind the batteries that are used for speed control?? If so, those get super hot on 48V at slow speeds and not a good candidate for making a slow running hunting buggy out of. When running slow, all the current goes thru those "toaster coils" and get real hot..I mean real hot!! You could convert your whole speed control system to a controller setup and run as slow as you want all day long...use the search option at the top right of this web page in the 2nd dark blue bar...search for threads on cnversions...tons of info
