75 club car brakes, pedal won't come up

Hi, I just picked up a late 70's club car. It has the 2 brake pedals. I is the hill holder. The hydraulic pedal has no resistance and and is all the way to the floor. I checked the resevoir and it was empty. I filled it and tried to bleed the brakes but I can not get any fluid to move thru the master cylinder. I have removed and cleaned it, but I'm not sure how it works. There is no resistance towards the pedal. Am I missing a spring? any help would be appreciated Thanks. Steve

There is a spring, but it sounds like the old hydraulics are just worn out. Parts for your cart are still available. Check with the site sponsors. Try filling master and loosen line coming off it first. Pump and see if you can get any fluid out. Plunger may be bad.

If you don't have a fluid leak you do need a master cylinder

Thanks I sent an email in to vintagecartparts. I did find out its a 71 Caroche so I'm looking for a rebuild.Steve

I was able to get a rebuild kit for my 71 caroche with dico brakes. National auto parts was able to cross reference the original wagner master cylinder. got all new inards for 15 bucks. same day delivery. Brakes work great!!

I took the master cylinder to my local napa dealer. They took the #'s off of it , had a rebuild kit the same day, worked great. I don't have the #'s, threw the box away last wek. I beleive the kit wasl less than $15.00

I’ve never had any luck with the rebuild kits. I just bought a new master cylinder fir my 71 caroche

To use a rebuild kit you first need a cylinder hone to clean up bore and then inspect condition as water settles in bottom and ruins bore, so if ( any pits ) show replace unit. I always takecart hydraulic parts to local large auto parts dealer as he can cross casting numbers over to modern available parts for up to one/half the cost of cart parts?
