Intermitten Problem-Cart Won't Start
I have an intermittent problem. My golf cart is a 48v 2001 Club Car DS. Once in a while the cart will go dead. If I keep pressing the accelerator the cart may start, however, this made be in 5 minutes or 1/2 an hour later. When it starts depending on how far the accelerator is pressed it will lunge forward or backwards depending upon where the f/r lever is placed. It may take a few starts to get going steadily. Then it may work normally for minutes, hours, days, or weeks before it happens again. The quick, instant lunge acts as if something in the circuit that was open is closing.
When it's dead, there is no drop in voltage. The batteries are fine. You can hear the solenoid click when depressing the accelerator. I jumped the solenoid when the cart is dead and there is no reaction. I bypassed the OBC when the cart is dead and also there is no reaction. I checked the micro-switches and they are fine. This indicates to me to the Mcor motor regulator or the controller is the problem. My questions are: how can one check out whether the Mcor motor regulator or the controller is bad? Is there a way to eliminate either one? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Charlie. |

Re: Intermitten Problem-Cart Won't Start
If you had the CC Maint/Service Manual it would have , Test and repair procedures for both.
These run between $50 and $100 and generally cover multiple years and include both Gas and Electric for those years. You are obviously competent in trouble shooting and it will be the best $$ you spent. to BGW "Charlie5" |

Re: Intermitten Problem-Cart Won't Start
Scottyb, thanks for the information. The cart has been running OK for a few days. As soon as the problem appears, I'll give the test procedures a try. Hopefully, it will stay dead long enough. Thanks again.

jpm136,
Thought about that long ago. Weather/moisture changes nothing. scottyb, After reading the literature you sent, it's for a 2005 Club Car. My Club Car is a 2001. It doesn't has the 16 pin connector. However, it does give me some ideas as some of the wiring might be the same. Thanks. |
