Talking Best Choice

Hi to all,
I have a chance to get 1996 Ds electric or a 2006 IQ electric cart for a good price. All things being equal which is the preferred cart to own? ie reliablity, maintenance, etc.

Thanks , Buddy

In my opinion DS is better and easier to work on !
But I'm sure there are others who prefer the IQ ?

The IQ is as over-complicated as the engineers could possibly make it... lots of people are enjoying them. I'm not one of them.

1996 CC could be a regin. or a pot car. Either way would be bad. Regin 1 and 2's were Clubcars 1st and 2nd failed attempt at building a reliable regin cart. They really got it right with the IQ though ScottyB can attest to that
If the 1996 is a Regin cart...it will have the small rocker F&R switch. Stay away from that one in my opinion. If the CC does not have a V-Glide and the Potentiometer box is under the cart, small black box near accel pedal. Stay away from it also. If its a straight-up DS series with a v-glide, 1204 curtis controller, It would be my choice!

Is there a quick easy(dummy proof) way to easily tell a V glide DS from the others? Other than the ones mentioned above. Maybe even in the serial number????

OK............scratch the top portion of this post. I went and looked at the controller on the DS and it says Curtis on it. Case closed I guess as to what it is.

Thanks, Buddy

If you look down on the frame on the drivers side and see this.glide.jpg sitting between two batteries on a frame rail, and it had this F&R switch switch series.jpg

not this rocker.jpgyou should be good to go

BuddyGo I do not want to hijack your thread but just want to take a minute to say

Bionic, I am impressed AGAIN with the pictures and advise ! Good JOB

The frustration is that We do not have a good place to keep Good advise and Great
Pictures , tables and diagrams which are priceless in helping others.
And the search engine we use is poorly lacking !
But one day someone will figure where to keep this and perhaps enhance the Search !!!

Thanks again G. All I want to do is help out all I can and get to know everybody. I too wish there was a better way to keep all the pics and advice. Sort of like the Wiki answers do. The people asking the questions get to rate the answers. Best answers end up at the top of the list. It could be set up with catagories and sub cats. to keep all in info managable. If nothin else, only the top 5 answers would be kept. So it wouldn't be overwhelming to search through. Maybe one day?

And to BuddyGo....Welcome to the BGW family! Go buy that cart and get to work!
