Smile Club car starts with a jerk

Hi guys, I'm new to the site. I have an older 36v club car that starts with a jerk in forward and reverse. It has 5 solenoids and 3 speed coils. First click-nothing. Second click-nothing. Third click-jerks forward (and cart on jack, meter reads 30v going to motor). Fourth click about 33v, and fifth click about 36v.

After reading several threads on this I have the following questions:
* it seems likely I need to replace solenoid 2, but I also read that a bad other solenoid may make the car start in higher voltage, so should I just replace all 5? What's the cheapest website to get solenoids?
* should there be a 4th speed coil? I also saw on another post about coil cracks and touching, I dont see any real evidence of this, but how closely do I need to inspect for cracks (do really small micro-cracks matter?)
* I read that in speed box, the micros need to click. How do I find speed box and if there is a loud click from the solenoid how do I know if the micro is clicking too?
* are there other things that could cause this, and how do I identify them and test them?

Default Re: Club car starts with a jerk

You decribed a failure of the #2 solenoid. replacing it should fix the fast start problem.... I like to see all 5 solenoids replaced because they are all about 25 yrs old and may start to fail one at a time now... but it is not neccesary. You can replace one and see how it goes... Any one of our site sponsors from the sponsor link above can deliver the solenoids

The 5 micros are in the metal box at the end of the gas peddle linkage but, they seem to be working fine. I wouldn't mess with them....
