Accelerator Problem: Jerky, Rapid Acceleration
I just acquired an older (1980's) electric Club Car, purchased brand new Trojan batteries and installed them. We tried the cart out and thought it ran great for such an old cart except for the following:
After fully charging the batteries, we took the cart for a spin and upon initial acceleration, the cart gives you whiplash (herky jerky acceleration) when you just barely press on the accelerator. This happens with every acceleration...not just sometimes. Since I am female and do not have a lot of technical savvy, is this something that I might be able to repair? I'm not afraid of a DIY project or getting my hands dirty. I do not know the history of the cart. It was not running when I got it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Accelerator Problem: Jerky, Rapid Acceleration
OKAY ONE OR MORE OF THE LOW SPEED SOLENOIDS HAS FAILED. You are starting out in second gear? To test put the cart up on jack stands in the rear and with the seat off slowly push down the gas peddle. You should hear 5 solenoid clicks from behind the batts. The solenoid closest the driver's side is the master ... it is working or you wouldn't go the next one is 1st gear... My guess is it is not working Careful, jack it up off of the ground before trying this.
