Runaway Club Car goes for a swim
OK, first thing first. I don't know much about carts or my cart for that matter. My son was on hole 2. He got out of the cart and was standing behind it to get his club out. The cart was in Forward and the key was on. The cart takes off and runs into the lake. While in the lake the tires kept running. He took the key out and it still kept running. Would not stop until put into nuetral. We pulled the cart out and another cart started pushing it to the clubhouse. My son put it into forward and the cart started running. He drove it all the way to the shed. He did not push the accelorator. He had to put it into nuetral to get it to stop. When it is at a dead stop, if you put it into forward or reverse it runs wide open without pressing the pedal. What happened and what do I need to do? It is a club car, 36V, but not sure of the year.

Sounds like a solenoid has the contacts welded shut and you will have to figure out the year or post some pictures so that someone can tell you where to look. If you still have the serial number sticker under the dash the year of the cart is in the first 2 numbers after the beginning letters. Then look in the stickies to see what the wiring diagram looks like and look for the solenoid. You can pick up a solenoid fairly inexpensive from either a local dealer or check with the sponsors.
See if you can get the year and post it. |

Re: Runaway Club Car goes for a swim
We need to know how deep the water came up on the cart when it was in the pond and for how long it was submerged?

Re: Runaway Club Car goes for a swim
I don't suppose you have some pics of it sitting in the water hazard?
Oh well, just curious. Hope you get it fixed up with low costs. |

Re: Runaway Club Car goes for a swim
There were plenty of folks taking pictures with their cell phones. I'll see if I can get someone to send me one. The front was lower than the back. The dash was under water and it came up just below the seat and to the top of the back tires. It took probably 30 minutes to get the tractor that they use to mow to pull it out.
