01 club car
I have a 01 club car that I bought about 2 years ago and it runs great. I just put a new set of batteries in about a month ago. I have started to mess around with it some and found two micro switches for the light kit and found a horn under the cup holders. The micro switches are one problem. They do not work the way they are installed. When I pulled the one from under the cart out and pressed the switch it worked great but the way it is installed nothing is there to press on it to engage the switch. From what I can tell it is installed in the correct place(with the bracket mounted on the bolt holding the bracket that secures the brake rod assembly!!??!)but I am not sure. I am also not sure if the switches engage the brake lights from "off to on" or from "dim to bright"
My next issue is a black box tied to the frame. It doesn't have anything written or stamped on it. It is 3x5 with a red, yellow, black, and black with a yellow stripe wires coming out of one end only. None of the wires go to anything except the black with yellow stripe. It is connected to the terminal post on the controller box. I am not sure what the box is for. I thought it might be a voltage reducer for the lights/horn but it doesn't look like anything online. Any ideas? |

Re: 01 club car
Your black box is the OBC (on board computer) it controls the battery charger.
There should be a battery cable going through it. It monitor amps going out of the battery pack and puts I think 110% of that amperage back into the pack. |

When you're right, you're right, gmorrison. Her are some pics.
As you can see, the black/yellow strip wire is attached to the post on the OBC and the other three wires are cut. Is this a voltage reducer, motor enhancement, etc. or can I toss it. |

Re: 01 club car
I see the wires from the OBC in photo #3(from Left) coming through the OBC on the firewall.
I also see,Large Battery cable connection at controller and the other 3 cables going into gray Terminal connector (This is correct). So I'm not sure where the cut cables are coming from . Perhaps someone else can Help ? |

Re: 01 club car
I tried to remove the lid to get inside and see if it had any decals/writing but the screws were rusty and I stripped one out and haven't gone back to it yet. Maybe this weekend but when I do I will add more Pics.
The yellow, black, and red wires come from the black box and the black/yellow striped one runs through firewall to OBC terminal.... |
