1981 Club Car - what changed in 82??
Over the last few days I've purchased two Club Cars to restore, one for my dad, and one for my father-in-law.
The 93 I bought for my Dad is pretty solid, and just needed to be cleaned up really well and have the ignition switch replaced. Done and done! The 81 that we bought for my father-in-law needs a little more work, but came with brand new batteries and tires. Okay, so here's my questions. When I look at the online vendors, most list parts for 82-up, hardly anything for the 81. Specifically i need to replace the rotten plywood that currently serves as a dash, and was hoping something like this would work. But this is listed for 82-up, but I swear both the 81 and 93 carts look the same in regards to the dash size. Is the 81 going to turn out to be a pain to get parts for?? |

I think the DS was introduced in 1981 1/2 . I know, some of you weren't even born yet You may have a DS cart or not ... post the pics and we shall see.

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them. I did the serial number thing to determine it's an 81, however it has "Fairway Villager" decals on both sides, which I've seen referenced as a later model. Maybe I have a FrankenCart!!!

Hey, I'm not uptight about disclosing how much I paid. I paid exactly $1000. Figured the new batteries and new tires/wheels were worth $600-800, so I got a cart thrown in for $400 or so. I knew it needed some front suspension work, and some TLC, but I still feel okay with paying $1000. |
