A jumpered on/off switch

Removing the dash to check the switch I broke one lug off the on/off switch. Is it ok to simply jumper the switch leads, or will the always "on" state drain the system?

On my parents' old CC, they don't have to use a key. It's always "on". They don't have a problem holding a charge. They would like a key for a little feeling of security though.
I don't know if it's actually pulling anything from the battery pack while sitting though.

Come on cart masterminds.... what's the answer?

The switch is there for a purpose plus it will give you a controlled power point for adding assessories. I suggest you replace it.

An unattended cart left on is a potential safety hazard. Many are the stories of small children or dogs crawling up on the floor and driving the cart into a wall or pond. If the solenoid is left on it will burn out in laess than a years time as well. Not a good idea.... a simple toggle switch will fit the bill.

If you remember, I tossed the question about my parents' CC and how it was jumping into forward and reverse. I was told that the first gear solonoid might be messed up. That might be exactly what happened to it! No on/off capability.

If you want a factory replacement key switch, I have two of them that I have removed to replace with privacy keys. I can send you one for $10 shipped.

I know of a cart that was left on while the person working on a outdoor project. He said when the lumber slid off the seat and nailed the gas pedal, he got to watch his cart, trailer, tools, and lumber take off at full speed. go right across his driveway ( 150 feet ) hit a parking stop on the far side and go airborne, cart , trailer and all. He also said he was impressed how high the cart got launched, down side was it launched into his wife's Lexus at about 2 feet off the ground. passenger side doors was the impact site.

I wish I had been there.

My cart gets turned off every time I leave the seat.

My Dad said it's less expensive to learn from anothers mistakes than your own mistakes. I agree.

I've always used "Learn from the mistakes of others. Life's too short to make them all yourself."

Both are good to live by.
