Alignment Ring/Bumper
Rearend on the cart is making a clicking noise when running very slow. I've gone through searching the site and read about a part I may be missing. Someone described a rubber splined spacer/washer that fits between the motor armature and differential input shaft. I took the motor off the cart to see what was going on and didn't find such a part on mine. I've attached a pic of the motor and differential. Am I missing it?

Re: Alignment Ring/Bumper
Just did the ex's last week! (98 48V)
(sorry... no pics!) It's right in the end of the motor armature! (the star looking gizzy!) The actual part is only about 3/4" deep, and the rest of the splines are the motor shaft itself! the ex's was held in with a truarc ring/clip, I don't see that on yours, so I'm guessing it'll just slide out! BUT... you need to use some type of adhesive to hold it aligned with the other splines, before reinstalling the motor! |

Re: Alignment Ring/Bumper
Thanks for the reply, Don.
I took another look at it last night. I didn't find anything on the inside of the motor armature splines. I think I'm missing the part entirely? Anyone have an exploded parts diagram for a 97 DS, 48 volt? |

Re: Alignment Ring/Bumper
That's the thing!!!
The guide ring IS part of the splines! It's a composite fiber peice that looks just like the splines on the inside of the armature, but, it only sets in about 3/4 of an inch, and then the rest will be machined motor splines! look down into the center of the shaft, you should see a seperation line between the guide ring, and the actual motor splines! What you should do first, is get a guide ring... then you'll understand! Club Car OEM part # 1017891-01 I should have taken pics! |

Re: Alignment Ring/Bumper
Thanks for the exploded parts diagram. I saved that site to my favorites!!
Ok I totally understand what you're describing, Don. However, I believe my motor armature is different from the one you repaired and the one pictured in the link A.D. provided. Yours (and the one in the parts diagram) are held onto the end of the armature by a internal snap ring. The contact cement mentioned is to maintain alignment of the internal grooves prior to reinstalling the motor back onto the differential input shaft. I'll order one up. I'm guessing the guide ring will be the same part number regardless of motor armature design?????? |
