Default Caroche trans question

Hi ya'll, my old caroche has begun to whine ( no, not like a wife but close)... man, I'm gonna get grief for that one, and need to find if anyone has a breakdown or service sheet for the older CC's. Would a heavier weight gear oil help to quiet her down or just make it worse? Jeeze if this is the worst of my problems, life is good.

My search of the service manuals showed that only a Club Car Gasser called for Gear oil. Everything else called for 30w motor oil .... It is a sling type lubrication system.... heavier oil will sling less and defeat your objective... I don't think you can put off changing a bad bearing (if that's the case?) with an oil change

We had this problem with 3 carryalls at the golf course where I work. The noise is going to be the top bearings in the transmission, also called the input shaft. The problem comes from the fact the oil does not really get slung up into the bearing good enough. Go ahead and replace all the bearings and when you put the top bearings in be sure you pack the bearing with a good grade of #2 chassis grease. We rebuilt all 3 of ours and did this on the last 2, but not the first one and it is whining now. The two we packed the bearings are still runing quiet. This is not mentioned in the service manual, but is a good way to keep these bearings lubricated. The bearings were all available at the local bearing supply house. These carryalls are run about 40 hrs per week each and treated very roughly. This is a little bit of a tricky job as all the gears are shoehorned in the case one on top of the other. This is not a job to do when you are in a hurry and feeling impatient. Gene Davis
