Need advice on Club Car purchase
I'm looking at getting a used golf cart for my mom to drive less than a mile round trip from our home to our subdivisions club house. Here's two of them I found:
Cart #1 is a 1999 48 volt Club car with new Black Box Batteries, running lights in front and read, a new tinted split windshield, and a charger. Comes with a 3 month warrantee. Cost is $2150. The company that has this cart is near Pinehusrt. I believe that they took this cart in as a trade-in from a private owner. I will probably go look at this car tomorrow (the car is around 50 minutes away). The owner of the company lives around 20 minutes from me so He could easily pick it up if there are issues. Here's a link to the guy selling #1: http://wyliesgolfcarts.com/ I have jpgs of the cart but they aren't online. Cart #2 is a 2006 Club Car Precedent IQ with 2008 Trojan batteries. The price delivered is $2,800 without the lights. I want to have lights installed so I guess that they would cost another $2-300 installed. Car #2 is around 1 3/4 hours from my house and comes with a one year warrantee. So the total cost is $3,000 - $3,100 depending on the lights. The company that is selling this I believe services fleets of golf carts from golf courses so this is probably from a golf course. Here’s a link to the guy selling #2: http://www.bradsgolfcars.com/usedcars.htm So car #1 which I can view easily is around $900 cheaper than #2 but it is 7 years older. I believe that if I have issues with either cart #1 would be easy to turn around. Cart #2 might take a couple of weeks for the guy to pick it up and return it. I'm leaning towards #1 if when I see it runs good and looks clean inside and out. I might buy it. Any comments? Any tips on what to look for when viewing the cart? Also, anyone heard of Black Box Batteries? Please note that I had posted on the Yamaha board. I bought what was supposed to be a 2003 cart that turned out to be a 1996 cart. I am returning it and will get my $$$ back. Thanks!!!! berto |

Re: Need advice on Club Car purchase
I have no Idea what Black box batteries are , what is the year of the Black Box Batteries ???
Batteries are everything in a cart. The 99 is easier to work on Precedents can be a bear when they fail. But if you are not doing the work , then its a mute point. Ask #1 to extend the warranty to 1 Year and to warrant the batteries for 3 years and give him another $150 incentive . Ask #2 to add the light kit and make sure they will also pick the cart up for work if required. Both sound like Very good deals ! |
