THe OBC is the brain for the charger ... there is no other way to make it automatic except to have a good obc and charger. You can bypass the obc for a test. If the the charger comes on then the obc is bad....

Yep, they got an automatic charger. (you can't use the stocker)

Do like scotty just said to test the OBC. Thats the only way I know of other than taking it to a dealer....who would probly do the same thing.

OBC bypass & Test =
The black wire coming out of charge recepticle has a yellow fuse holder, open it up and connect a jumper from the end coming out of charger recepticle to the negative on Battery 6 or the last one in series. Plug in the charger if it comes on your OBC is most likely TOAST.

The wire could be grey. My 97 has a grey wire. No matter the color as long as its the one with the yellow fuse holder.

I did that and got a big ark like positive to negetive. I quess that means that there is some crossed or melted in the obc. This thing is driving me crazy. You can by pass the relay in charger and it will charge the batterys up right now I have 49.2 batt pack voltage and cart runs. Can i buy a timer and run it ofn that and not burn up my batterys. do I need to get a charge indicator and install on the cart.

Yes to both !
but by the time you have purchased both , a timer to controll the charger and
a state of charge meter to mount on the cart ,
for a few more dollars you could have a new OBC .

Here is 1 for $99
