Storing a 48v Club Car
I'm new here, so if there's another thread about this, I apologize. Anyway, just bought a 2001 Club Car, was talking to the "seller" and he said to store for the winter to unhook the battery cables, but, for the summer if it's gonna sit for awhile, leave the charger hooked up and it will charge every 16 days. I live in MN and it gets **** cold here, and was wondering, can I just put a timer on the charger so that it "kicks" in for like 1/2 hr a day just to keep them "up". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

First of all, Welcome to the forum..
 Where is the cart to be stored? What is the storage temperature? If it is not too cold, then leaving the charger hooked up with YOUR cart should be OK. If I am correct, your model will accept a charger that monitors the battery pack voltage and charges as needed.  |

I would soak the battery compartment with a mixture or water and baking soda to nuetralize the acid. Wash it clean, then top off the cells, charge the batteries then leave it UNPLUGGED for the duration. Charging cycles will boil out the water, without someone there checking, you're asking for trouble! I would also leave them "wired" up, but get some battery protector spray and coat the terminals real good with it.

It will be stored in an "old" brick garage, and it will get down to 0 degrees (hell, maybe even colder), remember, it's...Minnesota! :( :(

Not good solution for this other than taking batteries out after a complete charge
and find a friend (someplace) where the temperature is well above 32f. attached is a publication from Trojan which should tell what U need, Read section #4 |
