Default 07 Precedent Battery Life

Recent purchase of 07 Precedent(48 volt) with original 12 volt batteries. Battery warning light comes on after 16 holes indicating remaining charge at 25%. Use to Trogan 6 volt batteries and getting 5-6 years of use. Have heard could be controller problem, although Trogan tech support says not uncommon for 12 volt to have much shorter life span. Any experiences, suggestions? Can this cart be converted to 6 8volt batteries for longer life?

Get a digital Volt meter and a specific hydrometer and test the batteries.
Check and fill batteries with distilled water to 1/4" to 1/2" over plates.
Tighten and clean all battery cables.
Charge batteries until charger turns off .
Wait 30 minutes .
then use this chart to check batteries = http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html
and use this for battery maint = http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...intenance.html

AND NEVER NEVER run batteries to 25% , if the previous owner did this , it is probably the problem
and yes they will last 5-7 years if maintained properly .

It's a guarantee---shorten up on battery maintenance and you shorten up the lifespan also. I vote with Garry M.

Many thanks for the info and guidance! Fortunately, the current batteries are still under mfg. warranty and will be replaced with new at no cost. Trying to get as much time as possible from the old batteries before replacement.

drag out the old hydrometer and see how much life is left.

Charge to max until charger is off, wait 1 hour Then Test,
if they are not really close to 100% I'd have them replaced now.
Then take better care of the next set !
