actually, the switch is a new heavy duty 48v CC switch that has 3 micro switches... the third micro switch (furthest out) has three wires for the 1/2 speed reverse that I didn't use. the middle one is for the backup alarm that I also didn't use.

The old switch couldn't handle the 48v I guess and finally fell apart.

You're right... it's like the car that I think Johnny Cash sang about... building it one piece at a time and ending up with a mongrol!

Anyway, the switch is wired as shown on the wiring diagram that I used.

I'm talking about the battery/motor cabling.

You never did say where you got these controllers? New? Used?

I think that switch is different than the one shown in the diagram. They are not all the same. I'm not sure which one you have but if its a true 48 volt then its not the same one.

Look at this diagram. It should be the same F/R you have. Don't pay any attention to the other crap. Same controller, same multistep

yup... I understand that... I was just describing the newer switch and with out being next to the cart and I was letting you know how I wired it.

Sorry, after reading it, I see I wasn't very clear in my description.

I just compared the cabling diagram to the one you just sent me and It looks the same on paper. I'll have to get over to the cart to make sure I didn't do something stupid and cross a couple of cables somewhere!

I really do appreciate your help today! If I can't figure it out, I'll take some pics and post them here to see if you can find something.

I did buy the m/c used, but the guy drove his cart over, took out the m/c, put in a high speed controller and gave me the one he took out so I'm thinking it should be OK... I don't know anything about the spare one I have.

the only thing I changed in the wiring is skipping the 1/2 speed reverse... I did wire it in there, but I don't have it hooked to the micro switch to activate it while in reverse.

I don't know if this is relevan't but its very possible. I knew I had seen it somewhere on here before but I am not sure of the particulars.Very well could be part of your issue.
Maybe someone else can fill us in.
