Default 2001 Club Car "Regen" GE Controller Upgrade

Hi All
I think I fried my controller on my 2001 Regen Club Car. It's a GE Controller p/n IC 3645SH4D222C2, 48V 220amp. The (1) ring Terminal (green wire I think) that goes from the right side of my controller to the motor looks like it blew up and burnt at the controller. I'm hoping that it didn't damage the motor. I don't know what happened, the solenoid clicks, but no go. I'm thinking it may have stayed full open sending a ton of current to the controller burning it up!

For fixing sake, I'm going to change the solenoid, and maybe upgrade my controller, and that's it. Before I do that I'd like any advice on how high in amperage you can go on a new controller from 220amps to something before you hurt your motor? I don't want a bad combination that costs me a motor in the future. I'd like maybe 400amps, but is this too much for the stock motor? Can you guys give me a range? I know I'll need to upgrade cable probably..

Any adivce will help!

Hey Welcome to the forum, I have a 2001 "REGEN" as you do, I've upgarded the motor and a quite a bit. Here is an application guide from AllTrax and lots of additional information that will help you. Most put in 400 amp. I have upgraded welding cables through out and putting in DCX400PDPLUS.

Here are some shots of mine and some of the upgrades.
