You can run those on either voltage, you will need a 12v circuit for the activation coil for both.

So basically hook it up to a mini 12v battery. If thats what you mean I will start a thread or do some research when I gather the parts. I dont wanna cram my head with to much info just yet, just want to slowly gather parts

Yes, a mini battery, if you run these on your 48v current setup you could use your voltage reducer if you have one for lights etc.. When you go to 72v you could add the 12v battery in bagwell to run all of your 12volt accessories.

I already have a big interstate 12v I run all my acc. on so for now I would just hook it to that. When I go 72 ill probably have to switch to a mini 12v just to save room but we will see. Now it looks like I need to gather about $350 or so to get me going

Thanks for all your guys help!

You might want to consider a handicap scooter 12 volt 40 amp hour rated battery ( UB 12350 ) like I use for my accessories? its 7"X5.5"X 7" and is light in weight ( about 28 lbs ) and can be mounted in any position as its sealed. I use a fused marine dash mounted power supply ( higher amp rated than standard cigarette lighter ) and added a digital volt meter to keep up with draw down and a adapter on my 12 volt 2-6 amp charger ( sealed battterys require less amperage when recharging ) to charge as needed. I also added an additional 48 volt solenoid to match my stock cart ( you can use extra solenoid coil to match the voltage you end up with ) so that it automaticaly turns 12 volt supply on when operating cart. I have tried different relays but found that most DC units were not isolated from coil voltage to power supply and found also that relays dont seem to last as long with continues usage compared to cart solenoids?

I found this so you can just stay at 72 volts. They have both contractor you will need and at a good price.

lol! i can see how hooking one up might be intimidating... did you get the 72V coil?

i'm upgrading my wires to 2/0 and figured a reversing contactor would be a far more elegant solution vs. running 4 garden hose sized wires 4ft into a dinky plastic switch.
