wow, it works! lol!

i pulled a 80A fuse from my car and pre-charged with a 250Ω resistor... of course, i flinched at each step enabling the cart; connecting the battery string, turning on the key, moving the switch to F, pressing the gas pedal. sure enough, the cart went forward when it was supposed to and the same for reverse. no explosions, no smoke! cool! disconnected the borrowed fuse & fuse holder, reconnected the negative lead and POW! i pretty much crapped my pants since i had already let my guard down and i wasn't expecting the caps to discharge so quickly! (way less than a minute) i cleaned the carbon off the cable lug, pre-charged the caps with the resistor then quickly made the negative battery connection. whew, no spark! drove around the block and it feels like i gained a couple MPH... i'll take the gps next time out! MUCH better!

Question Re: forward/reverse switch change to toggle switch

What is this?
Why do you need two F/R switches and 2 F/R mechanical devices to make it work. One of each is fine.

This is all you need to make it work.
What is the old F/R part for? I don't understand the logic.

Yeah, it's a little confusing sj. There's the conceptual drawing up a couple of posts and then the drawing that Andy has in his post. Looks good nevertheless. Which are you using?

**side note** what program do you use to bang out all these diagrams?

Andy after looking again, it appears the first (conceptual) drawing just has both ways of switching in there. Black lines = original switching & Grey lines = conceived way of switching. It's showing a comparison of the two circuits. Am I on/off Sonic?
