If have never tried it, but it makes sense to me that if you checked for voltage across the small posts of the solenoid you should not get a reading unless the key is on, the cart is in gear, and the pedal is depressed. At that point voltage is applied to the coil of the solenoid to make it engage.

Jumping the solenoid is for testing only. Do not operate the cart this way.

Hi Gonorman, OK, here's the scoop:
I tested the solenoid, key off-no pedal depressed and got no reading across the 2 small posts.
I then turned key on and depressed the pedal-got 49.2 volt reading between the posts. Please tell me something good! Best, Doc

Replace the solenoid.
