Already drinkin!! I would get a volt meter and start checking things out!!! I wouldnt keep things hooked up to 16v. 16v in 12v accessories =

Sometimes these things can get really confusing. I would just take a break from it and come back with a fresh clean head. There are so many times that I cant figure it out..... come back an hour later and BINGO GOT IT!! But if you guys have more problems with it tonight and still can't figure it out you can call me tomorrow and I will try to help. 989-992-7601

dcannow, I am using two batteries for the lights, horn and brake pedal light. I have 8 volt batteries - 4 caps per battery. 16 volts to lights. I just got this cart and apparently someone put the red wire on the negative post of the last battery and I was just not sure where to put it on the batteries. My neighbor has a 95 club car and I saw he put his light cable on the 3rd from last battery (24 volt). Did not know if that would be too much or not matter.

Radicalgolfcarts - Thanks. I guess the controller needs the voltage reducer?

NO, just some aftermarket voltage reducers are hooked up to the controller. If your buddy has his lights through 24v he has a 24 to 12 reducer on it, where you may have a 16v to 12v reducer. There are a lot of after market reducers out there.

I guess I would feel better about leaving it hooked up with 16 volt if I could find the reducer on it. It appears to be just hooked up strait through. If I were to have one, where would it be - between the battery and the fuse? fuse and the light switch? maybe the ground wire coming back from the lights? Thanks for your help.

That post then connects to another post in the battery area. From that post the wires continue to a block mounted on the frame of the cart (I have no idea what it is -see pic). Then the black wire runs out to the controller I believe. From this controller, the black wire then goes to the neg on the 6th battery.

One thing I did try that seemed to work is put the Red wire at the begining of this series on to the second to last battery and this improved the lights, horn and rear lights dramatically. Is that ok? I don't think I have the converter.

Isnt there any wires coming out of the box in pic #3?

OK your black wire is on the Neg. (-) post of the 1st. Batt and your red wire is on the Pos.(+) post of the second giving you 16V. As the Radical Man says-running 16 V to radios, etc. can be a problem, I think you will be ok on the lights. But do some reseach on putting on a voltage reducer (converter) then you can tap all the 48v. All the suppliers will include install instructions if you ask when ordering. Call the number that Radical gives and visit with him tomorrow, he is one of the gurus and I am an old duffer that melts enough wire until things start working right. Ask him about putting on a reducer
