Default Getting state of charge on a CC Precedent

I understand to get a state of charge using a voltmeter, I am to go from the POS terminal on the first battery to the negative terminal on the last battery. Exactly which is the "first" and "last" battery on an 06 Precedent? Also, when disconnecting batteries to be safe when adding lights, horn, signals, etc., which leads on the 06 Precedent should be disconnected? Finally, which batteries have the leads that are connected to the charger receptacle on the 06 Precedent? A simple diagram sure would be helpful!
Many thanks in advance.

Smile Re: Getting state of charge on a CC Precedent

Hi Gary, I am assuming you have 4 batteries, two on the left (drivers side) and 2 on the right (passenger side).

The forward battery on the drivers side is #1, the battery to the rear on the left is #2. The battery on the right rear is #3, and the battery to the right front is #4.

Like this : Front of cart

1 4
2 3

rear of cart

The 48 volt positive is on the right side of # 1 battery, and the cart negative is on the left side of battery # 4. The battery post's should be marked, usually on the top of the case.

Also off the + 48 volt lug is a red wire going to the charger receptable.

There are "stickies" at the top of the forum pages that have the wiring diagrams.

With most batteries, I usually disconnect the negative first, then the positive, and hook up the positive first, then the negative. HOWEVER, on my Precedent when I go to hook up the last connection (the negative) I get a HUGE spark. So I hook up the negative first, then the positive, & no spark.

Have fun, Dave

Dave,
Thank you so much for the clear and concise reply. Yes, I do have the standard 4 battery set up. That really helps! In checking the "stickies", I found diagrams for 36 volt and the 48 volt DS, but not the Precedent. Could have overlooked it! Will search again.

Regards,
Gary

Behind the dash, on the left side there are two wires, they are for the state of charge meter. Most things are prewired on the Precedent. Use your meter and check it out thats were I hooked mine up. There is even a dimple there to make the hole.
