Default rear shock problem ?

I know this is a stupid question but I have to ask. When i took my axel off to change my motor and rear leaf springs I noticed an oily substance on my brakes on one side. then later I noticed oil on the ground under that same tire. (48 volt electric cart) oil has no smell. Is this comming from my shock on that side? did I overextend it by going to a four leaf spring? Cart was lifted when I bought it, I guess it has 4" lift. do I replace the shocks and if so with the same shocks or bigger?

I doubt it came from the shock, but that's not to say it couldn't have. They make shock extenders that thread onto the stud and you can get longer shocks too.

If you let the rear end hang down too far on one side, you might have drained some differential oil.
