I'll do my best to help you as I am going through this myself right now on a 84. The two bottom posts on your switch are either going to the Positive terminal of the last battery in your pack or one for reverse goes to the Positive terminal of the third. Basically it is a popular mod to run both cables off of the last batt's terminal thus giving you 36volts for reverse instead of 18 as some diagrams will show. If you take pic's I can confirm against my switch for you.

Please use my information cautiously as I am a newbie here and still learning

Don't worry about being a newbie. Sometimes all it takes is the right person saying the right thing at the right time.:wink Seeing how you've got an 84 and I've got an 83 the wiring to the F/R switch should be the same I'm assuming? My serial number is A8326 so this is a June of 83 machine.
I found the wires going to the solenoids were just randomly placed on solenoids tonight.I put them all in the right places. I got 5 good solid clicks from the solenoids but no wheel spinning. This was with the key turned on and in neutral. I flip the lever over to Forward and it melted the micro switch.
I just fried the #1 solenoid switch because I didn't get this right. I simply can not make out that picture to save my life. They placed the switch sideways and put all 3 posts on the same side and then cut the wires short to which post they go on.
I have all the battery pack wires in the correct places. According to both the wiring diagram I have. My problem lies at which wires go where on the F/R switch.
It has two posts on the bottom and one on the side.
Things I am getting wrong.....
Placing the charger outlet wire on the right post on the F/R switch.
Putting the key wire on the right post on the F/R switch. Which goes to the same as the charger wire.

I think if I get those right I'll be all set. All I need to do is go get another 3 terminal micro-switch.

Garry, My A-1 thru S-2 posts on the motor are in a straight line on the motor. I did find that diagram for my model.
I'm not having a problem getting those wires correct on the F.R switch. Not anymore that is.
I wish I could explain it better. I'm a doer, not a god teacher.
In the diagram you just posted what I'm needing to know is..... does the wire from the charger outlet go on the bottom right or bottom left or the side post on that switch?
I'm uploading a picture of what I was going to try before realizing it was all wrong in my profile. I just made up an album. I know it's all wrong but it's before I found this site. take a look at it. If someone could point me in the direction of a picture like that I'd probably be OK at this point.

In the last diagram it shows the drivers side solenoid connected to batt neg. On my 84 batt neg is attached to the top stud of the motor???

It runs so now I am confused

Gary I do not mean to confuse you and will keep my stuff in a separate thread from here on out. Going by the wiring diagram and your picture you have two wires at the charger connection. The white wire appears to go to ground in both picture and diagram so that part looks good. Your red wire comes from the charger connection and goes to the right bottom connection. This would appear to be fine as well since you have the black jumper in place to provide full 36v for reverse. The jumper basically makes the two bottom posts the same.

Again I hope someone with more experience confirms this

Thanks, that jumper was just put in there to see if the full reverse speed was going to work wired like that.
I really think my problems are lying in the secondary wiring since this is where I found most of the problems so far.
The other person is getting set to go get a new switch and I know for a fact it's the last one in stock so if I fry this one I'll have to order them on line and it'll take a few days to get here before I could test again.
It's still the same old thing again.... Not being able to see a decent diagram or picture of the posts that all the other wires go to. We just called a place to see if they sell manuals. There is a place some 2 hours away.
