81 cc battery help
Cart is pretty zippy after charging. Runs for 10 minutes then gos at about half speed. Got the wiring diagram from sticky, my problem is the passenger front battery the one that the blk neg cable goes back to motor is showing no volts. All batteries are new. It showed 6 volts after charging but seems to die fast. All other 5 batts still show 6 volts. Could it be tied to motor or something else?

Re: 81 cc battery help
OKay.... 6.0 volts is empty. 6.37 is 100%. 6.05 is 50%. Never draw your battery down below 50% as permenant ddamage can result. Doing so repeatedly will shorten the useful life of the batteries.
You could have 1 bad one ...... You coould have one not wired into the charging system? Double check your wiring and stop running it until you reach 50 -100% of capacity per the chart below. |

Re: 81 cc battery help
I checked the wiring and is wired correctly. 5 batts read 6.25-6.37 the batt in question read 6+ after charging then 0 after running cart for 10 minutes. All others still are 6.25+ maybe one bad batt? I thought maybe it was possibly something else?
Thx! Scottyb |

Re: 81 cc battery help
IF the wiring is all correct = one bad batt

Re: 81 cc battery help
What batteries do you have? You could have a broken plate inside one, too! We had one in the shop a few months back that read normal when sitting idle, buy went to negative voltage as power was applied. Basically the center plate was broken and sitting sideways in the battery. Once power was applied, it went to reverse voltage from the short. Weird things CAN and WILL happen
Sounds like you did a great job on the diagnosis |
