Re: controller swap question
You should be Okay..... the stock controller may only be 225 amp. and this wil limit your 48v experience

Re: controller swap question
Is it a silver or black controller? One is 5k-0 ohm while the other is 0-5k ohm. Both will work, might have to mod the throttle.

Re: controller swap question
Did you upgrade the solenoid to 48v? Cables to 4ga?

Re: controller swap question
well to be honest if you had to buy the parts it wouldent be worth it to use the stock controller but if you can get one cheap you get about 4 miles and hour over the 36 volt system and i would say at least a 30 % difrence in hill climbing capability.
and you dont have to change the motor or use 4 gauge cable the purpose of the 4 guage cable is to limit resitance that is buit up by heat generated by the extra amps a higher amp controller provides. so if someone wanted to do it here is how first change the vglide from 0 to 5k to a 5kto 0 this is done by a simple swap of the wire hooked to the first fixed contact ,switch it to the last fixed contact . next you need a negative feedback wire from the vglide to the m- of the controller this wire is hooked to the thrid lug from the bottom of the vglide next change the soleniode to a 48 volt hook up the wires exactly the way they are removed from the old one next change the controller and hook it up the same way you remove the wires from the old one you will notice that some 48 volt controllers do not have the a2 lug this is no prob you can either take the two left over cables that are suposed to go to the a2 lug and just bolt them together or you can replace the two cables with one cable . next replace the 6 volt bats with 8 volts making sure all conections are tight and wala there you have a 48 volt club car ..... takes about 35 min hope this helps someone |

Re: controller swap question
weracemx, thanks for the simple 36v to 48v conversion in clear, plain steps. I'm new to the forum and have heard about this but this is the first step by step process. SHOULD THERE BE A STICKY!!!!!!
Now my question is, what equipment would someone need to buy to perform a complete 36v to 48v conversion. Also, if you're listing these, could you also include a round about price for each item. Appreciate the help, never knew there was so much depth to golf carts. |

Re: controller swap question
Welcome to BGW!!!
Cancov, you are wooting and barking up the wrong tree. This conversion didn't come close to the power and torque improvements that are possible because he used a 225 amp controller There is really no point in doing this with any less than 400 amps. You just won't have enough amperage available at any one time to see the 30% gains that are possible...... Sticky? I don't think so |
