Choosing a Lift Kit
Well I'm ready for a lift kit. The low ground clearance and mostly slick tires just ain't cutting it for offroad use!
I've been looking closely at the Allsports Super Sport 4" lift kit. Anyone on here using this kit? It looks like the lowest lift that will still clear 22" tires. It also is advertised to have 4" of travel for a smoother than stock ride. My question is: If it only provides 4" of lift AND has 4" of travel, wouldn't the dang tires scrub when hitting a bump and using the total travel?? Somebody chime in and give me the scoop on lift kits. I want to get the right one for me the first time! I use this cart for joy riding, neighborhood visiting, trail riding, and blazing new trails through the woods too! I want the kit to clear 22" offroad tires and offer more ground clearance. I also don't want it any higher than it needs to be so that the center of gravity is as low as possible to prevent tipping. |

Re: Choosing a Lift Kit
I went back and re-read the discriptions of the 4" and 6" Allsports Super Sport lift kits. It was the 6" lift that was advertised to have 4" of travel. The 4" lift did not mention travel at all. I would assume the lower lift would have less travel. Makes sense.
I definately want to purchase American made. After reading some of the search results, the Chinese built units seem to be low quality. Thanks for the replies so far. |

Re: Choosing a Lift Kit
Go with the 6" allsports - I've been pleased with mine and I do the same neighborhood trail riding you mentioned.

Re: Choosing a Lift Kit
Scubabud and Bill-E-Boy - Are you guys running the 6" spindle, a-arm, or super sport lift kit on your carts? If it's the super sport lift kit, is the added suspension travel noticable? I'm looking for my cart to have a smoother ride while trail riding and offroading it.
Golfcarfixer - I agree the Jake's kits look plenty tough and I'm sure would hold up well. My only concern with a spindle lift is I don't gain any suspension travel along with lifting the cart. My stock cart now is a pretty rough/stiff feeling ride when offroading. I know when adding 22" or 23" inch all terrain tires, I should notice a softer ride as the tires will offer some cushion as compared to the stock 18" tires. Really appreciate the input here. I'm running the all sports 6" a arm lift kit...certainly is more suspension travel....I'm sure it's got to be smoother than stock.....but on a rough trail the ride is still rough...it doesn't "float" over the bumps by no means. I tend to drive slow on a rough trail. One thing is for sure the a arm lift is much smoother than the spindle lift..I have a buddy with the spindle lift and it's definitely a big difference between to two rides. |
