Thumbs up 36 to 48 conversion / PQ motor upgrade results

Ok,
A few months ago I got a CC DS 36v resistor cart. Ive since upgraded it to a 48v controller cart with brand new Trojan 875's, and just finished test driving it with a Plum Quick reworked 36v motor. Here the results from the beginning to end.

All tests were done on the same strip of road to eliminate variance due to elevation loss or gains ( here in south florida there isnt much anyway)

Stock 36v with stock tires 13.1mph
48v conversion with stock tires 17.8mph
48v conversion lifted with 23" tires 19.4mph
48v conversion with PQ reworked 36v motor 25.1mph

Im very impressed with the PQ motor, I never thought a motor swap would get me that much with the stock controller. Now to look into a controller upgrade (Ill start a new thread for those questions)

John

That is impressive. Bet you can tell a big torque increase as well. I wonder if I can get a 36v motor for mine? I already have an upgraded motor, but no results like that. I really need to stop reading the posts on this site! Too many ideas!

After the bigger tires went on I lost a lot of bottom end. The reworked 36 has decent pull till around 22mph then it takes a little bit to hit the 25 mark. PQ recommended sending them the 36 to redo rather than the 48v motor. From what I hear a higher amperage controller will get that bottom end back though.

I have a 500 amp controller and mine has a good low end. I would really like to keep the same low end that i have now, abut add about 5 mph. My top speed is about 18 on level ground. Sounds like a sweet setup that you have though1

I went with the reworked 36 after reading a few posts on here with results. Im sure you could search ebay or craigslist and find an old 36v motor to send in. They charge 225 to re-do it.
