2002 IQ powerdrive charger wont turn off
Hi,
I have a 2002 club car that I just bought and when I connect the charger the charging process starts as it should normally. But it wont turn off, after 12 hours charging the pack voltage gets up to about 60V before manually disconnecting the charger. State of Charge 5 amps on charger 2:45 PM 3:30 PM 4:15 PM 1 B2 9.85 8.53 8.3 2 L5 10.06 8.58 8.4 3 B2 9.83 8.51 8.3 4 B2 9.77 8.47 8.2 5 B2 9.78 8.45 8.3 6 B6 10.71 8.61 8.4 60 51.15 49.9 Any thoughts? I think either batteries or OBC? |

Re: 2002 IQ powerdrive charger wont turn off
Batteries need to settle about 45-60 minutes after the charge has ended before you can get reliable readings. They will drop quite a bit in that time... a load test will tell the tale on the batteries best. I would S/G & load test the batteries first.
You may find a date code stamped into the base of the NEG post like C5 or E7? E7= May 2007. Any battery set 5 yrs old is suspect. |

Batteries are B A D. 4 are original 2002's
It doesn't matter what they say sitting there with no load on them - you have to discharge them to see the real story. But with 8 year old batteries, it isn't worth the time or effort... |

Re: 2002 IQ powerdrive charger wont turn off
The charger working in conjunction with the OBC has a built in timer which should stop the charger after 16 hours to keep from damaging the batteries.
Put the charger back on , make sure the Batteries have been serviced with distilled water 1/2 to 3/4 " above plates. Let it settle 1 hour take battery readings again , you also can use a battery hydrometer to let you know the potential of each sell. Use this chart http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html As already stated above , don't expect too much from 8 YO batteries |
