Default Motor change

Have seen some talk on here and other forums, about putting a 36v stock motor in place of a 48v motor in a 48 volt system This is said to give more speed with no part changes and minimal heat increase in the motor.
Would like thoughts on this , and any experiences other folks have had?
Can this change be safely done??

Default Re: Motor change

yes it can be done but, it is usually done by putting 48v in a 36v cart... Same difference I suppose.
