Conversion
We recently took apart a 2000 Club Car and did a complete dc to ac conversion the only thing that is kept from old cart is the OBC. installed 4 new 12v batteries , they are at 70% from factory. Problem is with charger connected it pegs at 15v or slightly higher then turns off . will do this 2 or 3 times then not come on and charge at all. Batteries still at 70%. We have tried 3 different chargers , same result! checked wiring against schematic all ok.
Would like thoughts? and comments ?. cart runs like crazy, up to 27. MPH Batteries currently at 49.8v Thanks |

Re: Conversion
Could be the OBC, does it do this after 30 seconds or so?

Re: Conversion
By-pass the OBC inside the charger.

Re: Conversion
Just how do I go about by-passing the charger computer? disconnect wires to computer unit?
Doing this will make the unit a straight 48 v charger correct?? How about just connecting the charger wires to the battery set in car without running thru the car computer?? |

Re: Conversion
Did you take the OBC out when working on cart, or by chance switch the ends aroun of the wire going through it?

Re: Conversion
This has always been the issue with the obc. The obc is the charger brain. I have not seen the AC conversion in a CC. But in the Ezgo, the charger has its controls within itself. CC charger can be bypassed at the fuse behind the plug but then you have a manual charger like 1982 Not many of us are capable of using a manual charger without under or over charging at some point.....
I suggest you complete your conversion with the purchase fo a new or used Lester (or equivalent) 48v charger and compatable plug. Ditch the OBC! |

Re: Conversion
You folks are amazing on here. It's great to know there is help avaliable from like minded people with out having to fork over big bucks all the time.
We reversed the #4 cable that runs thru the OBC and now the charger works fine. Who would think that the OBC. reads direction of current flow, Thanks so much for the help Tom N Rincon, Ga. |
