Charger Sparks and wont turn on
I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my sister's 2004 Club Car DS. It has been getting slower and has a shorter run time. I looked at it and there were some badly corroded cables and acid build up on a few of the battery terminals. I cleaned all the batteries and fixed the damaged cables. The battery voltages were in the range of 8.15 - 8.40 each and a total pack voltage of around 50. Batteries are Trojans a couple years old. The cart starts but will barely make it up and down the driveway under its own power.
There's a problem with the charger that makes it spark down by the reset button when it tries to turn on and it wont start. It will repetitivley click, buzz for 1/2 second and turn off, over and over again without the amperage ever going up. Does this sound like a bad charger? I'm unsure if the cart's battery problems are a result of the charger not charging. I dont know when the charger started doing this or when the last time was that the batteries got a full charge. All I know is it wont start and charge for me. Anyway to help diagnose the problem? Thanks!! |
