"Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
Just purchased 2003 Club Car DS and need a rear flip flop seat. I see that there are many out there at many different prices. I want top quality and functionality. Want maximum support when folded down for cargo. In your opinion who makes the best seat out there? Also.... should I get aluminum or steel and/or safety bar (is this used to support cargo area when down)? Lastly, do I need to order any type of new rear top supports with this or will seat come ready to install? Thanks

Re: "Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
there are going to be a LOT of opinions on this. i personally like the all aluminum(lighter weight, no rust) unit i have. it is from m&m manufacturing. it is very solid. i have the one with a folding footrest option as well. i have loaded far more firewood than i should have and it still works just fine.
some things to consider when looking at them as price varies greatly. i have seen some that look to be made of wood for the cargo area. i wouldn't think those are going to last very long? also look at the size of the seat itself. i have seen some that my fat a$$ is not even going to fit in much less be comfortable back there. i had to order the struts with it. hope this helps a bit? this picture shows mine folded to a cargo position. |

I will tell you this with rear seat kits...
Quality = Price. You won't be getting the best kit for $400.00 or less... I personally do not like the aluminum kits, as most are not as sturdy as steel |

mike,i don't wanna get in a pissing match as you have WAY more exp than i do.
please explain what you mean by more sturdier. i have not used a steel kit so i have no experience (ab)using them and i totally agree if you want something nice you are gonna pay for it! -Aaron |

Re: "Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
Thanks for the comments guys. These are the exact issues I want to see addressed. Steel vs Aluminum, size of seat, price $$ etc......... Keep the opinions coming and let's see if we can narrow the best seats down to top 2 or 3 for others who are having same question.

Re: "Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
1 - All Factory kits are steel - There's got to be a reason for that.
2 - Most aluminum kits I see in the shop are usually bent / twisted out of shape from normal use. 3 - Aluminum is not as strong as steel when you're dealing with flat bar and angle iron. 4 - I haven't seen an aluminum kit to date that will change my mind... |

Re: "Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
OK so I would agree with you on steel vs aluminum. Now I just need a seat that is comfortable for my passengers (kids) and when folded down one that can handle the weight of a cooler full of beer and ice. LOL
Any brand or company recommendations? |

Re: "Newbie" - Rear Folding Seat ????????
Let me put it another way. Is there a steel product that is better than the buggies unlimited rear folding rear seat? It has OEM back cushion and it is raised for comfort, all steel construction and comes with rear top supports for $399 + shipping.
