Golf Cart Wont Work, New Owner
OK so i just purchased an older club car (not sure what year) that was working a while back, don't know how long its been since its been used but it doesn't work now. Iv had it on the charger (PD2 model 22110) for 3 days and i get nothing but a continuous beep when in reverse, or if i push the cart. I think the charger works, i get some electrical readings from a tester, but im not too familiar with all that. There are 6 TROJAN batteries, i thought that meant it was a 36V but the charger input on the cart says 48V, so not sure what it is. When i have the charger hooked up, the little battery light on the cart lights up, but since ive had it, it hasn't moved under its own power. Whats the deal? Could it be the batteries, or the charger, or something worse?

Re: Golf Cart Wont Work, New Owner
Need4speed, the first thing that you need to determine is whether that charger is the right one. Both 36v and 48v carts use 6 batteries, the 36v is 6, 6v's, the 48v is 6, 8v's. the way to determine whether you have 6v or 8v batteries is by how many filler caps they have the 6v will have 3, the 8v will have 4. Make sure that you have a 48v battery pack ie 6, 8v as that is what the charger is verify that and we will go from there and as Essness said post the serial number so that we can determine if the cart is supposed to be 36v or 48v.

OK, so the serial number is as follows: AQ0339. Following the link posted, that means its an 03' Electric I.Q. Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen. The batteries all have 4 holes in each, and it appears there have been no modifications on this car. Also the charger is the one that came with it from the previous owner, where is go it i dont know, but im assuming its the correct one. What next fellas?
Side note: I ordered some chemicals to mix with distilled water to replace all the 'acid' in the batteries, should be here in a few days. |

Dont put anything in your batteries but distilled water, put the tow switch in tow and take all your cables off and charge each battery seperately. You can do this with a 12 volt charger just dont leave it on eah one overa half hour.Put your cables back on and hook your batts back up and see if it charges. If your batts are origianal they would need replacement I would say. They are almost 8yrs old.

Re: Golf Cart Wont Work, New Owner
I spoke with a golf car repair shop and they said the same thing, theres a good possibility they need to be replace. He is the one that is selling me the chemical to "refurbish and rebuild" the batteries, its like 15 bucks with a 100% money back guarantee - can i really go wrong? . He also suggested the same method of charging one at a time with a car charger. Does anyone know how many DC Volts i should be reading on each battery? What about the numbers and method of testing the charger? I need a spark savvy fello to speak his two since...
