Buying a club car

Well im new to the golf cart world and i am trying to figure out witch would be the best buy for me.

Im intrested in buying a club cart and first
1. am wondering is there any years i should stay away from like to old and they might not make after market parts for or bad models, also
2. should i get a 48 volt or 36 volt, and if i get a 36 volt how much would it cost to upgrade to 48 volt,

This cart would be used for driving around my school campus there are slight hills but nothing big

I recommend starting off with a 48 volt. By my estimates it will cost about $1500 - $1800 or so to upgrade "properly" from a 36 to 48 volt system.

With that said, for your use, a 36 volt system will get you what you want. They are more plentiful here in MS than 48 volt. It took me a while to find a 48 volt system. There a lot of 36 volt systems for sale around here.

MSJEEP4X4 I would stay away from any Club Car carts 1995 0r up DS OR PRECEDENT MODELS with "SEPEX REGEN CONTROLS". This is my own personal opinion based on some years of cart repairs.This can easily be checked for by looking at the forward and reverse control under your right leg as you sit in cart. IF there is a SINGLE BLACK HANDLE THAT SWINGS FROM SIDE TO SIDE ITS A "SERIES" cart and this is what you will want to buy. IF there is a BLACK BOX of some kind with a ROCKER TYPE SWITCH then its a SEPEX CART that I WOULDNT BUY. In almost all cases parts are much higher and they have many more problems. Another thing to watch for if you really want a "PRECEDENT" cart is the batterys. Some have 4 12 volt batterys and some have 6 8volt batterys. The

The 12 volts are having shorter life and if you DO want one so equipped I would get one with LESS than one year old batterys. If you have faith in seller have them read code on top of posts to confirm age.
I personally dont have that much faith in the PRECEDENT carts durability ( AND I WILL BE TOLD OFF BY OWNERS ) but this is MY OPINION FOR WHAT ITS WORTH and I FEEL THAT CLUB CAR BY FAR IS THE BEST CART TO BUY?

I have yet to have any problems from an electric club car and I have owned quite a few. Many other will chime in and I tell the the "prime years cart to get" but really I have been happy with all the ones I have had. I just picked up a 98 "Series" 48 volt cart and its probably the best electric cart I have had yet. I had a 03 48 volt IQ Club Car and it was probably my second favo other than I have heard that people have had crazy problems with the Iq carts. Pretty much all the ezgo series carts I have had had f/r switch problems. They heat up really easily and its compounded by bigger tires. I have had a ezgo controllers burn up twice and one ezgo motor fry though I think it was due to water damage by the previous owner. All I can say is knock on wood maybe ive been lucky but I have yet to have any major trouble from a CC electric cart yet older or newer. Ive only had 4 yamahas and they have all been pretty decent to.

PS yall dont bash me to hard Ez Gos are good carts I have logged abunch of hours on them Just my experience has been slightly more problematic from the ezgo's than the cc's and I feel I have had about the same number of both. Just my .02 and that might be all its worth.

Have 2 Clubbies one is a 95 Series the other is a 97 Sepex they are both good carts. The 95 is nicer to let set as the batteries don't run down setting, the 97 you need to disconnect for the winter (not stored where we stay in the winter). Have had to replace the OBC in both one was original the other was a mystery problem but went away when replaced. The OBC is directional when replaced in the one cart under warranty work was put in backwards figured the guy had not fixed it figured it out myself, so he may have done backwards when he rebuilt. Other than that both have been trouble free. The options for upgrades on the 97 are limited but wife's cart so will remain original.

From the look of the f/r switch it looks like a regen. Hard to tell if it's iq or not. Call and get the serial number. Also get him to tell you the numbers on the battery terminal so u can date the batteries. That's a good price based on all the looking I did for mine

whats a non iq? does that mean it isnt a iq
