bypass resistor coils
i got a buddy that told me if i run a straight wire from the first hookup to the last, bypassing all coils, it would speed my cart up,i dont know anything about golf carts so laugh if you have to but i was wondering if hes full of crap

Give him another beer and tell him he is full of crap
 Wot is bypassing all of the coils already. All you would do is eliminate 1st-3rd gear. Touch the gas and you would get WOT only  |

he said i could just put 2 more 6 volt batteries and run a 36 volt system on 48 volts i read on here it would work but not good for it. what will it hurt?

It will work for awhile and eventually melt the speed control components.
Unless done properly which is not cheap ..... |

Yea. the old Club car resistor carts aren't the best ones for upgrading to 48 volts without modifications.

speed control is the pie shaped box with wires going to the resistor coils?

Ran mine for a year on 48 volts with the resistor coils, never really had any rough use. Never had a problem but i was waiting for one. Put a pot box and a controller in and eliminated the burning smell. They do run warm on the old system.
